Welcome, Dr. Stephanie Frankel!
HEI is happy to introduce the newest member of its family, Dr. Stephanie Frankel. Dr. Frankel has always had a passion for eye care. In order to fuel her passion, Dr. Frankel amassed several years of experience from prestigious institutions. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Central Florida. She went on to earn a doctoral degree at Nova Southeastern University. Lastly, she completed her internship and residency at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami. She recognized early on, during her residency, that she was interested in ocular surface disease associated with autoimmune dysfunction. These patients are very uncomfortable and are usually mistreated by outside doctors or need to be co-managed with rheumatology; she wants to take on the challenge of finding the right treatment for them.
As a new member of the Hollywood Eye Institute, Stephanie looks forward to forming relationships with new patients. She believes in treating her patients like family. Dr. Frankel enjoys helping people achieve visual and physical comfort and recognizes how patients are very thankful when helping to make a difference in their life.
“The power of sight was always something that I found incredible and can never learn enough about. People say to me that they would rather lose any of their other senses than their sight. That is a powerful thing to be responsible for keeping healthy for your patients. Being able to watch a patient’s reaction after restorative ophthalmic surgery makes you feel good about your job. To be able to assist in the process of giving a patient their comfort back after they have struggled for years with ocular surface disease gives tremendous satisfaction.”
As a native of the beautiful city of Fort Lauderdale, her hobbies include running, yoga, reading and spending time with her family. Today, Stephanie Frankel is happily married to an optometrist and raises a beautiful baby boy named Cody. In June 2018, Stephanie looks forward to bring a second child into her world. Dr. Frankel is very motivated by her family and her patients, “I want my family to be proud of me and the work that I do. I want my children to look up to me and hope that one day they recognize the impact hard work has on your life. My patients are always an important reason to why I make the majority of my career decisions. I want to keep them healthy and happy. I also want to be prepared to treat anything that walks in the door and do it with confidence.”
